Welcome to a seminar with Dr. Prescott Woodruff from the University of California in San Francisco (UCSF), CA, USA.
Dr. Woodruff is a pulmonologist and critical care specialist. He also leads a research group that conducts clinical and translational studies in various lung diseases, including asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).
15 years ago, Dr. Woodruff identified the existence of molecular sub-phenotypes of asthma which fundamentally changed the asthma field (Woodruff et al 2009 Am J Respir Crit Care Med). This knowledge has increased our understanding of the disease and has led to successful therapeutic trials of molecularly targeted therapies in defined phenotypes.
Today, his group conducts studies of distinct molecular sub-phenotypes of lung diseases, mechanisms of airway inflammation and lung remodeling, and clinical trials of novel therapeutic approaches.
The seminar is open to everyone interested.
