Fredrik Jäwert, researcher at the Institute of Odontology and a maxillofacial surgeon at the specialist clinic, receives SEK 100,000 in research funds from the Foundation Patent Fund for Odontological Prophylaxis Research. The group studies driving genomic changes in the development of tumors in the head and neck area. The long-term goal is to find new biomarkers that can identify patients with high risk of developing cancer. The research funds will be used to study driving genomic changes in oral leukoplakias that develop into cancer. The main part of the research takes place at the Sahlgrenska Center for Cancer Research.
