Nominate for the award “PhD Thesis of the Year”

24 January, 2023 Leave a Comment

The 2018 award winners gathered in connection with the PhD Thesis of the Year ceremony.

AWARD. Do you know of a really good thesis that was defended last year? Until February 7, you can nominate for the Sahlgrenska Academy’s PhD Thesis of the Year award.

The prize “PhD Thesis of the Year at Sahlgrenska Academy” has been awarded since 2009 and is funded by Dr Arnt Vestby’s Research Foundation. The purpose of the award is to recognize the contributions made by PhD students and their supervisors as well as to highlight particularly commendable theses within their research areas. The author of the “PhD Thesis of the Year” at the faculty will be awarded SEK 80 000. The winner at each institute will get a prize of SEK 30 000.

A nomination must include a statement (no longer than 2 000 characters/= about half an A4 page) describing how the nominated thesis especially fulfills one or more of the outcomes for the degree of doctor listed in the Swedish Higher Education Ordinance.

The submitted nominations will be considered by a scientific committee appointed by the Council for Doctoral Education, and assessed according to the outcomes for the degree of doctor described in the Higher Education Ordinance.

Nominations can be made by any staff member at Sahlgrenska Academy as well as everyone who defended a thesis at the faculty during the year 2022. However, self-nomination is not accepted. Please submit nominations via email to arets.avhandling@sahlgrenska.gu.se no later than on Tuesday, 7 February 2023.

The prize ceremony will be held at the end of May 2023. Questions can be addressed to tanja.johansson@sahlgrenska.gu.se.

The theses defended in 2022 are available in GUP/GUPEA.
