VICE-CHANCELLOR PROCESS. The Vice-Chancellor candidate Malin Broberg received a majority of the consultative assembly votes at a meeting in Vasaparken. The result of the vote is now submitted to the University Board, which will decide on 20 January which candidate to propose to the government.
The consultative assembly meeting on 11 January began with the Chair of the Board, Peter Larsson, giving a 30-minute account of the recruitment committee’s and the Board’s work to recruit a new Vice-Chancellor. He also answered questions from the consultative assembly about the process and the requirement profile.
Afterwards, the consultative assembly interviewed Vice-Chancellor candidates Malin Broberg and Åke Ingerman. The candidates were questioned one by one for an hour each.
Majority for Malin Broberg
After deliberation, the assembly took a vote at 2 pm. 65 of the 70 consultative assembly members in total participated in this.
The result was in Malin Broberg’s favour. She received 36 votes, Åke Ingerman 19 votes, and 10 representatives chose to cast a blank vote.
”We’ve had a rewarding discussion in the morning about the recruitment process and how it can be improved in the future. We then had two very good interviews where both candidates had the opportunity to show what they want to do and how they see the university’s organisation and development,” says Jenny Nyström, Chair of the consultative assembly.
The consultative assembly’s role is to be advisory to the Board. The assembly’s position is now communicated to the Board. On 20 January 2023, the University Board will make the decision on which candidate to propose to the Government, which makes the formal decision.
The new Vice-Chancellor will take office on 1 July 2023.
