From the turn of the year, there will be a change in conditions in the university’s insurance. The change applies to how lithium-ion batteries for, for example, bicycles and electric scooters must be stored for the insurance to apply. If an investigation reveals that lithium-ion batteries have caused damage to property and that the condition is not complied with, it will affect the possibility of financial compensation for the university. GU therefore inventories existing lithium-ion batteries that are larger than 10 Ah. The condition applies to all lithium-ion batteries, not just batteries for bicycles. The business must also draw up local rules/bans for students and staff to bring means of transport powered by lithium-ion batteries into the university’s premises/properties.
