Nils Wallenberg, postdoctoral fellow, and Sofia Thorsson, professor at the Department of Earth Sciences, will speak about Heat stress in preschools, a topic relevant to climate as well as multiple health aspects. Nils will present an ongoing research project that investigates occurrence of heat stress at preschool yards in Gothenburg and how it influence the children’s outdoor activity and thermal comfort using GPS tracking, heart-rate monitors, observations, model simulations and interviews with the preschool teachers. The speakers will also touch on how heat stress is expected to change in a future warmer climate and how vegetation can be used to mitigate heat stress.
