New episode of the Swedish podcast Akademiliv – with diabetes researcher Emanuel Fryk

For over a hundred years, we have known that type 2 diabetes can lead to complications and that the disease poses a major health risk. For just as long, it has also been known that the disease is strongly linked to our lifestyle, and to obesity and obesity. But many questions remain about the disease, and researchers around the world are focusing on several different theories. In this section of the podcast Akademiliv, we get an insight into how research on this very common disease is done.

The guest is Emanuel Fryk, a doctoral student at the University of Gothenburg, who recently completed his dissertation on type 2 diabetes, and specifically on the protein galectin-1 in type 2 diabetes. He also works as a doctor at a health center, where he meets many patients with the disease. He is hopeful for the future, and believes in a flattening of obesity and diabetes in the future, as society to a greater extent highlights the importance of lifestyle.

Interviewers are Karin Allander and Elin Lindström, both communicators at the University of Gothenburg.
