Congratulions to Silke Kern, newly appointed professor of neuropsychiatry! She is researching Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia, investigating what is happening in the brain from the time the brain changes can be measured in spinal fluid until the patient much later develops dementia. Her project is based on the longitudinal H70 population studies and the clinical H70 study. She evaluates different brain biomarkers to understand why some people develop dementia while others stay healthy and why some have a faster course in their dementia. Silke Kern is deputy section manager at the Section for Psychiatry and Neurochemistry, and also very involved in the new medical program as term manager.
