GPCC strengthens its research to achieve the goals for the new centre period

INTER-ACTION. The Centre for Person-centred Care GPCC is now starting up new research projects and new collaborations. The projects will strengthen the GPCC’s research program for the new six-year period, which corresponds to the transition to person-centred care that is ongoing nationally and internationally.

The Centre for person-centred care GPCC will start another six-year period as a center after the summer, which the University of Gothenburg decided on last winter. In the application that was the basis for this extension, the research program has been updated to correspond to the transition to person-centred care that is taking place in several ways, both nationally and internationally. To strengthen the research, GPCC is initiating new projects, emanating of the invitation to new projects made last winter. GPCC’s steering Committee welcomes the new Principal Investigators and their teams. Project descriptions will be posted on our web in the near future.

New projects in relation to the research programme’s priority areas

As related to development, adaptation and evaluation of person-centred care

  • Core outcomes for (economic) evaluation of person-cenred care, Principal Investigator Hanna Gyllensten
  • Early, accessible, person-centred rehabilitation for people with chronic pain (EAPER-P) – randomized controlled trial, process and health economic evaluation and drop out analysis, Principal Investigator Sara Wallström
  • Person-centred measurement of symptoms in children with a universally designed e-health tool, Principal Investigator Stefan Nilsson
  • The impact of Person-Centred Care on mental fatigue in Graves’ disease: from autoimmunity to e-health – the GRACE project, Principal Investigator Helena Filipsson Nyström

As related to enabling transition to person-centred health and social care

  • Developing and implementing a course in person-centered care in a midwife education programme at the Evangelical University in Africa, Bukavu, Democratic Republic of Congo, Principal Investigator Malin Bogren
  • Person-centred learning: co-creation of an educational module for higher education, Principal Investigator Catarina Wallengren
  • Sustainable e-health: repurposing a digital application to facilitate person-centred care planning and self-management in chronic care management (My Pain Survey – for Support and Partnership; PAS-SAP), Principal Investigator Birgit Heckemann
  • Transfer from pediatric to adult care – Implementation of a person-centered transition program for adolescents with long-term conditions: The STEPSTONES-Implement project, Principal Investigator Markus Saarijärvi
  • Transition towards person-centred care – how can a leadership program contribute to implementation and patient benefits? Principal Investigator Eric Carlström

As related to development of partnerships between patient representatives / the general public and healthcare organizations

  • The Launch of the European Patients’ Academy on Therapeutic Innovation (EUPATI) in Sweden: An Exploratory Multi-Stakeholder Analysis, Principal Investigator Axel Wolf

Focused utilization projects

  • IMPROVE – Implementing person centred care, process evaluation of strategies, leadership and health economy, Principal Investigator Lars Wallin
  • Learnings from four controlled trials examining effects and cost-effectiveness of introducing person-centred care in a cardiovascular population, Principal Investigator Hanna Gyllensten
  • Myths and conceptions about person-centred care, Principal Investigators Ida Björkman and Sylvia Määttä
  • Promoting person-centred information and communication – in the context of cancer care, Principal Investigator Eva Carlsson
