The University of Gothenburg makes a special provision for guest researchers from Ukraine. A total of SEK five million will be allocated to the faculties, which will be able to decide for themselves how they will use the funds. The Vice-Chancellor’s decision means that the faculties will receive SEK 600,000. The funds will be settled at the end of 2022 in connection with the faculties reporting how they have been used. Eva Wiberg is clear that even researchers in Russia and Belarus who are critical of the invasion of Ukraine may need academic sanctuaries. However, they are not covered by the special provision.
