Purpose: to promote cancer research in the field of prevention, including both primary and secondary prevention, by giving researchers at Swedish institutions the opportunity to, for a period of three years, engage in research in this field. The grant can also be used to conduct research studies at an institution abroad during part or the entire period.
The applicant’s research project must be focused on prevention, ie aim at knowledge or measures that can counteract or prevent individuals from developing cancer (primary prevention) and to detect cancer at an early stage (secondary prevention). The application can be made by researchers already active in the field, but also by those who with special methodology or knowledge in another area can conduct projects that are important for cancer research in the area of primary and secondary prevention.
The Cancer Foundation only pays grants to Swedish universities and colleges.
