The Board of the University of Gothenburg has decided to award Carl Bennet the University’s foremost award Socii et Amici Universitatis Gothoburgensis. He receives this award “for his significant work for the University of Gothenburg”. The prize is awarded in the form of a medal at the Doctoral Promotion on 6 May. The University Board’s motivation mentions Carl Bennett’s great community involvement and interest in education and research. In the years 2007–2013, he was chairman of the board of the University of Gothenburg. Carl Bennet was also awarded an honorary doctorate at Sahlgrenska Academy in 2019.
