On June 30, 2023, Vace-Chancellor Eva Wiberg’s term of office ends, and the University Board now commences work on proposing vice-chancellor for a next term, in a process in which representatives of staff and students will also be involved. At the board meeting on March 21, a decision is expected on the direction of the upcoming process, as well as the appointment of a recruitment group with representatives of the public, teachers, students and the trade unions. It is the government that makes decisions about principals at Swedish higher education institutions based on proposals from the higher education institution’s board. A vice-chancellor’s first term of office is six years, and the employment can then be renewed for three years on two occasions.
