Sahlgrenska Life – an investment in future healthcare, research and innovation

PREMISES ARE NOW BEING DESIGNED FOR FUTURE EDUCATION, RESEARCH AND COLLABORATION

The representatives from the departments have had a constructive dialogue with the architects to fine-tune solutions and make improvements compared to the original plan. The most advanced premises in terms of technologically have generated more planning work and so has the reduction of the area for the skills center with time pressure as a result. Some issues remain to be resolved, but this will not affect the overall timetable.

BOARD OF THE REGION VÄSTRA GÖTALAND: IMPLEMENTATION OF SAHLGRENSKA LIFE SOON UP FOR DECISION

While Sahlgrenska Academy is working on solutions for the premises in buildings 2 and 3, the corresponding work is underway for building 1, which is being built by the region’s real estate company Västfastigheter.
In addition, the regional board is preparing for decisions later this spring regarding the realisation of the Sahlgrenska Life project.

NEW RESTAURANT TO OPEN LATER THIS YEAR

The new restaurant is located right behind the temporary wall that separates the construction site from Medicinarelängan.
The restaurant will be a welcome addition for students and staff at both Sahlgrenska Academy and in Natrium.
At this point stairs and railings for the mezzanine are installed and the kitchen gets completed.

It is not yet decided who will run the restaurant. Akademiska Hus is in charge of the procurement process.

IN MEDICINARELÄNGAN

The entrance at 7B will get its floor in place. The temporary wall in Medicinarelängan that previously delimited the work area will be removed and replaced by a fence.

Medicinarelängan will not be closed in connection with that work, but the passage will be a little narrower.

AT THE CONSTRUCTION SITE

Metal work is being carried out on the roof and a permanent fall protection system is being mounted.

As previously announced, earthworks are now starting on the outside. The ramp down to the basement is being built and so is the loading dock. The area between the ramp and Nya Forsken is also being prepared.
