After consultation with the Department of the Swedish Language and the Language Council, the current Swedish writing rules for how the University of Gothenburg should write the names of institutes, units and departments have been changed. The previous guideline was that these names should always be written in lower case at the beginning (institute of xx, unit of xx, department of xx). From now on, these names will instead be written in capital initial letters (Department of xx, Unit of xx). Only the initial letter should then be capitalized, other lowercase letters.
The rules for English spelling remains as before. When used in proper/formal names, terms like ‘department’, faculty’, and ‘programme’ should be capitalized: examples “Department of Computer Science and Engineering”, “Faculty of Science”, and “International Master’s in Educational Research”.
