Sahlgrenska Life – an investment in future healthcare, research and innovation

INTENSIVE STAGE IN THE SUB-PROJECTS

The concerned departments and the Biomedical Library are in a very intensive stage in the design of their premises in the Sahlgrenska Life buildings and so are the special teams that have been appointed for training/meeting rooms and translational modules. The work is progressing and working well, even if the aspects are many and often complex. Parts of the planning also need to be done together with representatives from the Västra Götaland region, as certain premises are to be shared.

THE DETAIL PLAN IS NOW LEGALLY BINDING

The detail plan for healthcare and research near Per Dubbsgatan in the Änggården district in Gothenburg is now legally binding. The detail plan is a prerequisite for the implementation of Sahlgrenska Life, and is of great importance not only for the city but also for development of life science on regional as well as national level. In practice, the detailed plan allows the removal of older buildings in favour of new. In addition, the City of Gothenburg takes the opportunity to improve the traffic situation on Per Dubbsgatan for pedestrians, cyclists and public transport. The City of Gothenburg also wants to develop the qualities of the area and make it more attractive.

Natrium construction site February 2022 – work is carried out mainly on the inside of Natrium going forward.

IN MEDICINARELÄNGAN

The groundwork will start up again in March, initially with focus on Medicinarelängan and later on by the new entrance on Medicinaregatan 7B. This means that an excavator and a team of professionals will work to adjust the surfaces to the right levels and also paving. During April, an increased number of transports are expected on the walkway outside Medicinarelängan. The inside of Medicinarelängan is however not affected by this work.

AT THE CONSTRUCTION SITE

The final roofing is underway and it will be ready in February.

The facades are finished apart from where the construction lifts are located. Final completion takes place in April and for the last section after the holiday.

Work is in full swing on the inside, both in the technology rooms, labs and offices. New for the coming period is that the surface layer work is about to gear up.
