Tomas Hökfelt, professor emeritus of histology at Karolinska Institutet, receives the Arvid Carlsson Foundation’s grand prize for outstanding research in the spirit of Arvid Carlsson, a prize of SEK 700,000 in research grants. He is rewarded for his pioneering and internationally leading efforts in the mapping of the brain’s neurotransmitters in the form of peptides. The foundation also praises two younger successful researchers: Nitya Jayaram-Lindström at Karolinska Institutet and Simon Cervenka at Uppsala University, who both receive SEK 400,000 in research grants. The award ceremony will take place in Gothenburg in late spring 2022.
