The Vice-Chancellor has now decided on new guidelines for teleworking for technical and administrative staff. The main rule is still that the work must be carried out on the university’s premises, but the new governing document entails a less restrictive application. Employees can make a request for telework to their immediate superior, who decides whether telework is possible and appropriate, based on the needs and requirements of operations. The agreement between employee and manager must be in writing.
“I think this is positive and good. It gives greater flexibility and is in line with how other employers act, but it is always the immediate manager who decides”, comments Agneta Holmäng, dean of the Sahlgrenska Academy.
