Construction information Medicinareberget – detailed plan to be approved in December

CONSTRUCTION INFORMATION. Akademiliv provides information on construction projects on Medicinareberget for the period weeks 45 – 48 (November 8 – December 3).

  • The periodic information about constructions on Medicinareberget is distributed with special mailings and in Akademiliv every four weeks. Up-coming information will be distributed out on December 6, 2021, and January 10, 2022.
  • If you have questions about the construction activities, feel free to email medicinareberget@gu.se.
  • This text contains references to addresses. An updated map is available in PDF format on the Campusservice Medicinareberget web page on the Staff Portal via link here.
  • There is also a power point presentation that summarizes the projects and is updated a few times a year. It is intended for use in meetings with employees and can be accessed via a page on the Staff Portal. The latest version can be found here.

THE BUILDING COMMITTEE DECIDED ON THE DETAILED PLAN

In October, the detailed plan was approved by the building committee of the city of Gothenburg. The decision means that the matter is brought forward to the municipal board and finally the municipal council in December for approval.

CONTINUED PRE-WORK ABOUT TRANSLATIONAL MODULES, THE SKILLS CENTER AND THE INSTITUE OF ODONTOLOGY

When the program review ended just over a month ago, some outstanding issues that remained to be discussed in depth. The work with translational modules that involves both SU and GU has been given additional time until mid-November.

The workgroup for the Skills Center (FC) has for some time been working according to changed conditions in terms of reducing its area by a third and also that the university itself will be a tenant for half of the premises. A program with the new conditions integrated was decided at the end of October. Next, work on block layouts with review in November and start of RFP work (room function program) in December.

Also, for the Institute of Odontology, a reduction of the area by 300 sqm is proposed. The question has now been forwarded to Vitartes, as it means that the surface of part of a floor plan will be vacated.

THE REGION VÄSTRA GÖTALAND GATHERED RESEARCHERS, EXPERTS AND DECISION-MAKERS FOR A SEMINAR ON SAHLGRENSKA LIFE

On 5 October, local and regional decision-makers were invited to a seminar on the subject Sahlgrenska Life – an investment in future research and healthcare. The purpose of the seminar was to provide an opportunity for elected representatives to ask questions to the project parties in the Västra Götaland region, the University of Gothenburg and Vitartes and Västfastigheter.

Experts, researchers and senior executives from the project parties were there to present their views.

The university was represented by Agneta Holmäng, Dean of the Sahlgrenska Academy, Peter Naredi, Head of the Department of Clinical Sciences, and doctors and researchers Lars Palmqvist, Inger Gjertsson, Lars Ny and Roger Olofsson Bagge.

Natrium – new premises for the Faculty of Science

The work this autumn continues according to schedule. New employees and contractors will join as construction progresses.

The superstructure is now ready and during the period facade work will start in building 2.

 

IN MEDICINARELÄNGAN

Work is underway for the restaurant. Plastering of interior walls is complete and work on the surface layers will begin shortly in the kitchen area. Flooring in the restaurant starts as well.

Replacement of windows facing the interior of Medicinarelängan will begin and this is likely to affect accessibility.

Outside of Medicinarelängan, work on the roof over the entrance has begun.
