Picture rain from the children’s hospital’s new inauguration

PICTURE REPORT. The new part of the children’s hospital has been running for a while – but on Friday 15 October it was solemnly inaugurated by Queen Silvia. See lots of photos from the inauguration here, taken by photographer Ines Sebalj.

H.M. The Queen was given a tour of the hospital. First of all, she got to meet children and staff at Lekterapin (play therapy).

Head of department Linda Löwegren told about the whole new operating department.

The Gothenburg Opera’s children’s choir sang. Viktor Leksell did the same.

The inauguration took place in the light courtyard. In his inaugural speech, Ian Milsom spoke about the unique care provided at Queen Silvia’s Children’s Hospital.

“That my name may adorn Sweden’s and the Nordic countries’ largest children’s hospital is an honor for me,” said Queen Silvia in her speech.

No ribbon was cut. Instead, two silk ribbons were tied together, to represent the two hospital buildings that now sit together and complement each other. The children helped.

Siri Ahrenström, 9 years old, has composed and recorded the song “Krifs, krafs, hoho, splash” together with Lekterapin’s music teacher. It was played during the inauguration.
