Akademiliv congratulates Inger Gjertsson on her professorship in internal medicine and rheumatology, which she combines with her position as chief physician at SU. Her research focuses primarily on the disease rheumatoid arthritis. She studies how B cells and the autoantibodies they produce affect the inflamed joint. Inger Gjertsson is also investigating whether these factors can be used to predict the severity of the disease and give an indication of the most appropriate treatment. Inger Gjertsson is also the course coordinator for the degree project at the medcial program and the semester coordinator for semester 10 of the new medical program.
