A research group at the University of Gothenburg is now looking for healthy study participants with a BMI between 30-35. For eight hours a day for five weeks, study participants must wear a weight vest. The study, which runs for a total of ten weeks, is based on the discovery that body weight and fat mass decrease if you carry artificial weights, which the research group has previously shown in both experimental animals and humans. The results indicate that the body has some sort of built-in bathroom scale that is part of an equilibrium system that strives to keep body weight constant, and is called the gravitostat. Here you can read more about the study and register your interest.
