COVID-19. For just over five months, the university has had stricter instructions due to the pandemic, where in principle all teaching and examination has taken place digitally and almost all work has been carried out from home. There is still restrictiveness, but from 7 June the stricter instructions will cease. The decision the business is now to be organized on the basis of is the principal’s direction decision for the summer and autumn term.
During the pandemic, the university has introduced many adaptations to be able to implement teaching, research, collaboration and operational support in an infectious manner. This has meant that the majority of operations since March 2020 have been conducted digitally and remotely.
Stricter instructions end at the end of the spring term
During the pandemic, the activities have been organized on the basis of the principal’s direction decisions, which have been supplemented with stricter instructions if necessary. Now on Monday, June 7, the stricter instructions that were introduced just before Christmas will end.
On the same day, the principal’s direction decision for the summer and autumn term 2021 will take effect. As it looks now, the Västra Götaland region is also easing its regional recommendations on Monday.
No major changes during the summer
The changes do not imply that staff and students are to return to campus now. During the summer, the university will continue to conduct a large part of its operations digitally and remotely, and employees will still work from home as far as possible. For all campus-based activities, those responsible must make an assessment of the risk of infection, and take sufficient measures to avoid the spread of infection.
Information about the autumn semester is coming
The university management will return shortly with a clarification of how the gradual return to campus during the autumn will go and how the five steps in the government’s opening plan will affect the university’s operations.
