Cecilia Björkelund becomes an honorary member of the Swedish Medical Association

The Swedish Medical Association has decided to call Cecilia Björkelund, Senior Professor of general medicine at the Institute of Medicine, as honorary member of the Swedish Medical Association’s council. The motivation reads: “Cecilia has a long-standing and deep commitment to women’s health, pedagogy and mental illness in primary care. This has been reflected in multiple research results from The Prospective Population Study of Women Gothenburg, to stimulating pedagogical development work and supervision of doctoral students Her efforts are of great importance for increased knowledge about women’s health in the population, to stimulate and develop pedagogy in multifaceted ways and last but not least to demonstrate how the work with mental illness, which can include up to 30% of those seeking care in primary care, can be improved with good evidence. Her activities thus include all SLS core values. “
