The purpose of the Swedish Society for Medical Research’s (SSMF) new grant is to support younger researchers in qualification and establishment as independent researchers. The amount is SEK 780,000/year for full-time and SEK 546,000/year for part-time (in combination with 50% clinical practice) postdoctoral studies. The grant will cover salary, including social security fees, and will be administered by a Swedish university where the researcher is employed throughout the grant period. The new grant replaces SSMF’s two-year post-doctoral scholarship.
Researchers who spend the first two years abroad can apply for a return grant of SEK 500,000 for the third year, with the option of choosing support as a personal tax-free scholarship of SEK 300,000.
Eligible to apply are those who have completed a doctoral degree in preclinical or clinical medical discipline or in a subject area close to medicine, no more than three years before the end of the application period and no later than 31st January 2021. Applicants must also have documented research activities in Sweden for at least one year and intend to conduct their future research in Sweden.
The application deadline is 15th November. Read more here and here.
