This year’s recipient of the Gothenburg Medical Association’s and Sahlgrenska Academy’s Grand Prize for outstanding medical research is Professor Claes Ohlsson, Institute of Medicine, and chief physician in clinical pharmacology at Sahlgrenska University Hospital. He is awarded for his groundbreaking scientific discoveries in the field of osteoporosis, where he is a world-leading researcher. The Gothenburg Medical Association’s and Sahlgrenska Academy’s prize for young researchers is awarded to Associate Professor Johan Bengtsson-Palme at the Institute of Biomedicine, whose research concerns the effects of antibiotics on bacteria, which includes antibiotic resistance. The award ceremony will take place in connection with the Gothenburg Medical Association’s closing meeting on 2 December, where the two recipients will give presentations.
