In next year’s budget bill, the government proposes investments of SEK 2.76 billion in, among other things, research infrastructure and an early increase in the basic grants of universities and colleges. As of 2024, the level increase is estimated at just over SEK 3 billion, but unlike previous bills, large investments will be made early in the period for the bill. The total investment that the government proposes for research and innovation for 2021 is SEK 3.4 billion and an estimated level increase to SEK 3.75 billion in 2024. The government’s proposal is based on an agreement between the government parties, the Center Party and the Liberals. The budget bill’s proposal will finance investments in the research and innovation policy bill that will be presented later this autumn.
