Construction information Medicinareberget: Summer break outdoors but demolition in Medicinarelängan continues

CONSTRUCTION INFORMATION. Akademiliv provides an overview of the construction project Natrium, the new premises for the Faculty of science, and reconstruction work in Medicinarelängan. In regards of the spread of COVID-19, there is currently no impact on the progress of the projects, but University of Gothenburg and Akademiska Hus are closely monitoring developments and are making adjustments as needed. If you have any questions about the construction activities, feel free to email medicinareberget@gu.se.

The regular information about construction on Medicinareberget now takes a summer break, and will return week 34 (August 17). Starting this fall the continous information will reach you every four weeks, instead of as every other week, as has been the case so far.

WEEK 27, June 29– July 3.

 

Natrium

In week 27, concrete and groundwork continues in the north corner of the construction site. In parallel, outloading of rocks, drilling and blasting close to Medicinarelängan and in the centre of the area, now at ground level. During the week, when the rock has been checked, the blasting method will be decided.

The road next to the rock wall is restored and again open for heavy vehicles during week 27-28 allowing entry and exit through both gates.

Inside Medicinarelängan, demolition work starts also on the first floor and continues on the second and third floor. Decontamination on the first floor is close to being completed and dismantling of electricity starts within a week.

Close to Nya Forsken, an extensive rewiring of cables is scheduled for week 27. The work on the ramp that will stretch alongside Nya Forsken can thus start after vacation according to plan.

Measures to protect the oak tree outside the Medicinarelängan starts week 27. Arborists assist in preparatory pruning.

Blasting in the week will take place close to Medicinarelängan on Tuesday and Thursday at 12.30 with reserve time at 15.00 on the same days.

WEEK 28, July 6 – 10.

 

Natrium

Inside Medicinarelängan, the demolition continues on the second and third floor. Demolition causing extensive noise is done during summer to minimize disturbances.

The casting team continues their work on the base slab.

A fundament for the next crane is constructed. It has a reach of 60 metres.

Blasting in the week will take place Tuesday and Thursday at 12.30 with reserve time at 15.00 on the same days.

 

 

WEEK 29, 13 – 17 juli.

 

Natrium

Demolition work continues as in previous weeks.

During week 29-31, there will be no casting, blasting and drilling. These activities start again in week 32, with blasting hours as usual at 12.30 Tuesdays and Thursdays  and reserve times at 15.00 on the same days.

 

 

 

WARNING SIGNALS AT BLASTING. Before and during blasting the area will be blocked off by guards and you will hear a warning signal. Information signs with contact information will also be put up in concerned areas.
