COVID-19. To help reduce the risk of infection, the University of Gothenburg is preparing to continue with distance teaching and having staff continue to temporarily work from home during the autumn semester 2020. Distance teaching will be the primary form of teaching at least through October 31. Staff will begin the autumn semester continuing to work from home.
The autumn term begins with continued, but adapted, restrictions. Ordinary education at the University of Gothenburg will, as a general rule, be conducted as distance education, at least until 31 October. In order to ensure the quality, exceptions can be given for teaching and examined elements that require physical presence. The elements to be prioritized are examinations that cannot be done remotely, teaching elements with aesthetic, practical and laboratory elements that cannot be carried out in an alternative way, as well as operational training and field studies that cannot be carried out in any other way.In these exceptional cases, precautions to reduce the spread of infection should be taken. When prioritizing exemptions, priority should be given to introductory steps for new students as well as students who complete the final academic year.Furthermore, as a general rule, the University does not allow studies and internships abroad during the autumn term of 2020.Newly admitted international students should, as an alternative to campus teaching, be offered distance education throughout the autumn term. This means that education may need to be prepared to be given in different and parallel forms during the second half of the autumn term.
