CONSTRUCTION INFORMATION. Akademiliv provides an overview of the construction project for new premises for the faculty of science and reconstruction work in Medicinarelängan and the Lundberg Laboratory. WEEK 9, February 24 – 28.
Medicinaregatan 14 – replacement premises for parts of the Institute of Biomedicine
Due to the new construction for the Faculty of Science, preparations for replacement premises for parts of the Institute of Biomedicine are ongoing. The former Akademiska Hus operating office will therefore be renovated during winter/spring of 2020.
The parking lot continues to be closed due to the construction related activities such as asphalting.
The renovation is estimated to be ready beginning of April.

Medicinarelängan lower floor – replacement premises for CCI
Reconstruction is ongoing in order to prepare for docking the new building for the Faculty of Science and to provide temporary premises for Center for Cellular Imaging, CCI, who will move from 7A to Medicinaregatan 1F.
Move of microscopes will take place both in February and in March and will temporarily effect corridor 1150. Lab furnishings will be delivered continuously during March and April. The renovation is estimated to ready beginning of April.
The work means disturbing noise particularly during hours stated below.

Modules at Lundberg Laboratory
The modules are now ready and the final adjusting of ventilation is ongoing. Deliveries of lab furnishings are under way and occupancy will take place in steps, starting in week 9.

Deliveries of lab furnishings for the third and fourth floor are under way. On the second floor, reconstruction has started, but will not affect education during the work.
New premises for the Faculty of Science (Natrium)
In week 9 the final ground levels are reached for the road behind the EBM media central. Also the area inside gate 1 facing Wallenberg Center that has been leveled out and prepared to become a material storage yard and unloading zone, reaches its final level.
Trucks enter and exit through both gates in week 9.
The activities in this week are about reinforcement work on the rock wall, clearing the surface, drilling, blasting and outloading.
The production team now consists of three excavator operators, two drilling operators, a blasting team leader, a geologist engineer, a surveyor, a wheel loader operator and production management. Moreover, the team is supported by specialists in vibration, noise, geologist, planner and transport management and other areas of expertise.
Blasting in week 9 will take place Tuesday and Thursday at 12.30 with reserve time at 15.00 on the same days.

Focus in week 10 will be on blasting for a culvert starting from the hollow close to the EBM media central. The position of this new culvert effect the access to a couple of doors to the media central and a temporary walkway will be placed over the shafts to secure both regular access and evacuation at emergencies for maintenance staff.
The daily outloading of rocks amounts to 1000 tons.
Blasting in week 10 will take place Tuesday and Thursday at 12.30 with reserve time at 15.00 on the same days.
