RESEARCH CONDITIONS. Researchers employed at Sahlgrenska Academy or within Region Västra Götaland have access to Akademistatistik’s experts on statistical and health economic questions. They can help you with random sample calculations before submitting applications and analyzing data during a study. The first five hours are free of charge, thanks to support from Medi-sam.
Akademistatistik supports researchers (affiliated with Sahlgrenska Academy or Region Västra Götaland) with statistical and health economic analyses and interpretations. They can support applications for research funding, when starting projects and with the processing of the results and their interpretation when writing an article for publication.
Subsidies from Medi-sam
During an initial consultation, you will discuss your project with two statisticians for 70 minutes. If you then need additional statistical advice, you will receive four hours of consultation paid by Medisam. After that, you pay the subsidized price of SEK 550 per hour.
“It is good to include statisticians from the very start, while designing the study, so that we can provide advice on random sample calculations and the design of the experiment. We most often participate both when studies are to be started and when they are to be completed,” says Catrin Wessman, an associate professor at the School of Public Health and Community Medicine and one of Akademistatistik’s experts on medical statistics.
For example, Akademistatistik can assist with experimental design, power calculations and statistical analysis plans (SAP). They can also receive help when performing statistical analysis, modelling data and reviewing statistical analysis. The consultants can also provide advice on how the results are presented in the article.
Times on Thursdays and, later this spring, on Tuesdays
Be sure to plan well in advance when you reserve consultation time. You can reserve time with Akademistatistik up to 60 days in advance. Akademistatistik has times available for reservations on Thursdays between 8:30 and 12:30. In April and May, you will be able to reserve times on both Tuesdays and Thursdays. The additional hours are added to meet the increased demand leading up to applications for this year’s call for proposals for ALF grants.
