Current construction information for Medicinareberget – modules put up, and closed walkway

19 November, 2019

A pavilion module arrives at Medicinareberget.

CONSTRUCTION INFORMATION. Here you find an overview of construction activities during the next few weeks that may affect you on different locations on Medicinareberget, not just where blasting takes place. On Thursday, November 28, the spare time at 15.00 may be used in order to divide some blocks that otherwise are too large to load. If you have any questions about the construction activities, please feel free to email to medicinareberget@gu.se.

WEEK 47, November 18 – 22.

Medicinareberget
Modules have been put up on the parking lot next to Lundberg laboratory. They are a part of the solution for the units that need to relocate and leave Medicinarelängan.
In addition, disassembly of some old ventilations units on floor 5 in Lundberg laboratory will be made.
The units will be lifted off the roof and this requires a mobile crane. During demolition and assembly of new units, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday in week 47, the walkway north of Lundberg laboratory will be closed. You are advised to use the route inside the house during the days the walkway is closed.
This activity will be repeated also in weeks 2 and 4 next year. In this newsletter you will hear more about that.

New premises for the Faculty of Science
In week 47 to 49, the ground work is largely located close to Nya Forsken and by the rock wall.
Thursday in week 47, November 21, the blast will take place relatively close to the facade of Nya Forsken. (see illustration) As usual the regular mandatory guideline from the police authorities is to move away from windows facing the construction site during blasting.
The blasting on the third level, which is in level with the ground level of the new building, is proceeding according to plan. A large space in the center of the area now provides the trucks with space large enough to move around during loading.
Other ongoing activities is removal of loose rock material as preparation for the drilling, blasting and outloading.
In week 47, blasting is carried out as usual Tuesday and Thursday at 12.30 with reserve times at 15.00 on the same days.
All three weeks the trucks will use the north gate close to EBM for both entry and exit.

WEEK 48, November 25– 29.

New premises for the Faculty of Science
The work continues as in week 47. In addition, re-enforcement work will be carried out on the rock wall.
Firstly an excavator will tear down rocks still loose after blasting. This is followed by manual work to remove what is left behind by the excavator. Thereafter long metal rods are mounted into drilled holes in the rock to secure the wall’s strength for the future.
In week 47, blasting is carried out as usual Tuesday and Thursday at 12.30 with reserve times at 15.00 on the same days.
The reserve time on Thursday at 15.00 might be used for dividing some large rocks to enable them to be outloaded.

WEEK 49, December 2– 6.

Medicinareberget
No additional information at this point.

New premises for the Faculty of Science
The month of December means an increasing risk for more deicing activities. The construction team is prepared for both ice and snow. The road salt is in store and equipment for snow plowing is available.
No new activities are in plan for week 49. Blasting will take place as usual Tuesday and Thursday at 12.30 with reserve times at 15.00 on the same days.

WARNING SIGNALS AT BLASTING. Before and during blasting the area will be blocked off by guards and you will hear a warning signal. Information signs with contact information will also be put up in concerned areas.
