Current information on construction activities on Medicinareberget

21 October, 2019

CONSTRUCTION INFORMATION. From now on, we are  expanding the construction information, so you can read up-to-date information on other different construction activities on Medicinareberget, and not just about projects where blasting takes place. Welcome to email questions about construction projects to medicinareberget@gu.se.

Reconstruction work in Medicinarelängan as preparation for the move of Centre for Cellular Imaging, CCI, which is a part of Core Facilities has started. The preparations of their new facilities  take place between October 14 and December 23 during which time it will not be possible to enter that area. The work environment responsibility lies with the contractor throughout the construction work.

Alternative passages will be displayed at the location. One floor above passage will be open. In case of need for exceptions, the work environment coordinator, called BAS-U, needs to be contacted. Contact information will found at the location.

MEDICINARELÄNGAN WEEK 43 (October 21 – 25)

  • The construction work place is established and dismantling work is carried out in all disciplines of the contract. This will cause disturbing noise.
  • Materials will be delivered and taken out during the week through the facade facing the inner courtyard outside Medicinaregatan 1F.
  • Note that certain parts of the corridor 1150 in the basement will become a construction site with limited possibilities to pass through. Floor 1000 will be open for passage.

NEW PREMISES FOR THE FACULTY OF SCIENCE WEEK 43 (October 21 – 25)

  • The blasting on the third level continues according to plan. The blasting close to Nya Forsken, previously announced for week 43 will be postponed until Thursday in week 44. This activity will not mean any increased risks, but the construction site management emphasizes the importance of following the guidelines from the police authorities, not to stand close to windows facing the site during the blast. This guideline is generic for any blasting activities and  not specific for this case.
  • In week 43 there will be one blast in the centre of the area and one close to the rock wall.
  • Blasting will take place as usual on Tuesday and Thursday at 12.30 with reserve times at 15.00 on the same days. The trucks engaged in the outloading will mostly use the north gate near EBM for both entry and exit.
  • The reinforcement work on the rock wall will continue.
  • Several activities in order to prepare for the winter season are now completed, among other things, improved lighting, insulation of water pipes and review of the electricity supply.

MEDICINARELÄNGAN WEEK 44 (October 28  – November 1)

  • Construction of interior walls for new rooms and installations will take place.
  • Building materials will be transported in and out via facade toward Medicinaregatan 1F.
  • Larger building materials will be transported via the goods reception after consultation with those responsible.
  • This work shall not affect transport to and from the reception of goods for Sahlgrenska Academy.
  • More noise than usual might occur.
  • Note that parts of the corridor 1150 in the basement will be a construction site with limited access. However, floor 1000 will be open for passage.

NEW PREMISES FOR THE FACULTY OF SCIENCE WEEK 44 (October 28  – November 1)

  • Uncovering, drilling, blasting and outloading are some of the regular activities ongoing on the hill. A close cooperation between several contractors taking their respective contributions into consideration designs the process going forward.
  • The project runs according to schedule and in week 44 it is estimated that that the project has reached an amount of 100000 tons of rock material removed.
  • Blasting in week 44 takes place on Tuesday and Thursday at 12.30 with reserve times at 15.00 on the same days.
  • On Thursday in week 44, the reserve time might be used for dividing some large rocks that otherwise are too large to be removed. This blast will also be proceeded by a regular warning signal.

MEDICINARELÄNGAN WEEK 45 (November 4 – 8)

  • Construction work including the completion of interior walls continues.
  • Installations continue in storage 1167-1172 and the former students’ room 1154-1165.
  • More noise than usual might occur.
  • Note that parts of the corridor 1150 in the basement will be a construction site with limited access. However, floor 1000 will be open for passage.

NEW PREMISES FOR THE FACULTY OF SCIENCE WEEK 45 (November 4 – 8)

  • A minor forging work close to the EBM media central will be carried out.
  • Apart from that, blasting and outloading will continue according to plan. The blasting in week 45 will take place in the centre of the area and on the third level as visualised in the illustrations.
  • The blasting schedule is as usual Tuesday and Thursday at 12.30, with reserve times at 15.00 on the same days.
WARNING SIGNALS AT BLASTING. Before and during blasting the area will be blocked off by guards and you will hear a warning signal. Information signs with contact information will also be put up in concerned areas.
