Information from Akademiska Hus about Naturvetenskap Life

6 May, 2019

Below you can find information from Akademiska Hus about the construction project Naturvetenskap Life. New information bi-weekly. Akademiska Hus announces that there will be two blasts on Thursday, May 23, both at 12.30 and on the spare time 15.00.

CONSTRUCTION INFORMATION VECKA 19
May 6 – 10

The Tuesday blast in week 18 was the last one on level one (see illustration) Blasting will now proceed to level two.  During week 19, and the following weeks, the road construction work passing Nya Forsken will continue step by step.  Outloading will increase and three dumpers are now engaged.

The gate that is put up outside the facade of Nya Forsken is locked from the outside but open from the inside to secure a passage in the case of emergency.

Blasting according to schedule on Tuesday and Thursday 12.30 with 15.00 as reserve time.

CONSTRUCTION INFORMATION VECKA 20
May 13 – 17

Skanska is arranging its yearly Safety Week in week 20.  One of the activities will be a safety round to which peers from the same industry are invited. An activity that adds value to the project as more perspectives are brought into the project.

Blasting according to schedule on Tuesday and Thursday 12.30 with 15.00 as reserve time.

When it comes to safety guards they sometimes change positions. Before each blast the geologist in charge decides on the exact position. So, if you can’t see a safety guard where you expect to, there is no need to worry!

CONSTRUCTION INFORMATION VECKA 21
May 20 – 24

In week 21 the reserve time on Thursday 15.00 will be used in addition to the regular 12.30 blasts. Some large rocks, too large to load on dumpers, need to be split in parts. Blasting is a preferred method in this case as the normal procedure would be to break them with a hydraulic hammer attached to the excavator, a method that causes disturbing noise for the surrounding operations. So, there will be additional noise, but for seconds instead of spread out for a whole workday. The selected method causes no vibrations. This activity will be repeated on more occasions throughout the preparation work and will be announced in this newsletter on beforehand.

During the blasting events, the affected areas will be blocked off by  guards and the warning signal will sound as shown below. Affected areas will also be indicated by information and contact details.

Vid sprängtillfällena kommer berörda områden att spärras av med sprängvakt och varningssihgnal kommer att ljuda enligt bild nedan. Berörda områden kommer även att skyltas med information och kontaktuppgifter.
