STUDENTS. The study and social environment for students at Medicinareberget needs improving. Everyone agrees with this. And now the Faculty is focusing on achieving this. As a first step, Studentköket (the student kitchen) at Hälsovetarbacken has been renovated, with noise-reducing sofa groups where students can work in peace.
Studentköket at Hälsovetarbacken is located just before the Annedal cafe on the second floor. It’s a large area which was previously used as a lunch room for students.
During the summer, Studentköket was renovated with new, soft and noise-reducing sofas, which allow group work. The renovation was financed through faculty-wide funds, once Dean Agenta Holmäng approved the proposal from the Facilities Council.
“Studentköket is already open for all students who want to use it. In November we are planning an official opening, when we plan also to rename the room. We think our students will be able to come up with a much better name than Studentköket,” says Lena Oxelmark, who is one of the teacher representatives in the work group led by Campus Services and which has been given the task of developing proposals for how the teaching facilities and student areas at Hälsovetarbacken can be maintained and designed.
On Akademiliv’s visit to Studentköket, Karolina Adolfsson and Amanda Dahlrot, both in their third semester of the nursing program, are discussing a group project. They are happy that they don’t have to go around looking for available group rooms when they need to work on their assignments.
“It’s nice to be able to sit a bit separate and in a quiet area and that there is room for the entire group when there are lots of us working together,” says Karolina.
“It really has been done nicely. It is much better to sit here and work now, but it has become more crowded at lunch time,” says Amanda.
All students at Medicinareberget are welcome to use Studentköket, both during lunch and other times.
