The election of the Faculty Board begins on June 1 – see the nominating committee’s proposal

22 May, 2018

FACULTY ELECTION. The election of a new Faculty Board begins on June 1 and ends on June 14. Presented below is a list of the eight board members and two reserves that a unanimous nominating committee is putting forward for the election.

The Faculty Board is Sahlgrenska Academy’s highest decision-making body. The Board of Directors promotes education and research in the academy’s operational areas and has overall responsibility for the academy’s collaboration with society at large.

The chair is Dean Agneta Holmäng. Pro-Dean Henrik Hagberg also is on the board. Eight members and two reserves are appointed through election by the faculty (a reserve for a member assumes a position only when a permanent member has left the assignment.) Three additional members are to be appointed by the Students’ Union.

The term of office of the next board is July 1, 2018, to June 30, 2021.

The nominating committee’s proposal

These permanent board members are proposed for inclusion on the Board of Directors:

  • Eric Carlström
professor of health sciences specializing in leadership and care organization at the Institute of Health and Care Sciences
  • Bo Jacobsson – is also a member of the current board
Sahlgrenska University Hospital chief physician and professor of obstetrics and gynecology specializing in perinatology at the Institute of Clinical Sciences
  • Kristina Jakobsson
specialist physician and professor of clinical environmental medicine at the Institute of Medicine
  • Thomas Kvist – is also a member of the current board
associate professor of endodontics at the Institute of Odontology
  • Ruth Palmer – is also a member of the current board
professor of molecular cell biology, particularly intracellular signaling, at the Institute of Biomedicine
  • Anders Rosengren
chief physician and associate senior professor of molecular medicine at the Institute of Neuroscience and Physiology
  • Magnus Simrén
chief physician and professor of medical gastroenterology at the Institute of Medicine
  • Susanne Teneberg
professor of medicinal chemistry and cell biology, particularly glycobiology, at the Institute of Biomedicine

Proposed as reserves for elected members:

  • Christina Bergh
chief physician and professor of obstetrics and gynecology specializing in evidence-based medicine at the Institute of Clinical Sciences
  • Magnus Braide
professor of anatomy at the Institute of Biomedicine

Your own proposal must be complete

As in the past, the election of the Faculty Board will take place electronically. On the morning of Friday, June 1, everyone who eligible to vote in the election will receive an email with a link to a web page where the vote is cast.

The question to vote on is: “Do you support the nominating committee’s proposal?”, which can be answered in three different ways: YES, NO or BLANK.

If you vote YES or BLANK, it is sufficient to make your choice and submit it.

If you vote NO, you must enter a complete proposal in order for the vote to be valid. This proposal can be partly based on the nominating committee’s proposal of candidates, in which you replace one or more names, or be a completely new proposal. In order for your vote to be valid, the proposal must contain ten different named, electable candidates (eight members and two reserves). The candidates should have been consulted and have accepted the assignment.
