FACULTY ELECTION. The election of the new Sahlgrenska Academy Board will be held in May. Employees can now propose candidates for the Board. The Nominating Committee would like to have your proposals by April 30.
The term of office for the current Board expires on June 30, 2018, and it is time to elect new Board members.
The term of office for the new Board is July 1, 2018–June 30, 2021.
The first step in the process is to nominate candidates for the Board. All employees are therefore invited to submit proposals for suitable individuals, along with a brief explanation. Mail your proposal to karin.ahlberg@fhs.gu.se by April 30 with the word “NOMINATION” in the subject line.
Nominees must be asked to run and give their consent to the nomination. Current members of the Board may also be nominated (https://sahlgrenska.gu.se/om-fakulteten/akademins-ledning/akademistyrelsen).
To be eligible, candidates must be employed within the faculty and its institutes, in a position that is at least 50 percent of full-time and a permanent appointment, or an appointment of at least two years of continuous employment. A majority of Board members must have a PhD in a scientific field.
During the upcoming term of office, the Sahlgrenska Academy Board will consist of 13 members, including the Dean and Pro-Dean. The Student Union appoints three of these members. The Dean is chair of the Board and the Pro-Dean is vice chair.
The general term of office for Board members is three years, while the Dean and Pro-Dean serve on the Board for six years.
Voting Rights
All faculty employees who hold a position that is at least 50 percent of full-time and a permanent appointment or an appointment of at least two years of continuous employment are eligible to vote in the election to appoint the new Board. Employees on a leave of absence may also participate in the election.
Doctoral student representatives are appointed by the students and, for this reason, doctoral students are not eligible to vote as employees.
