FACULTY ELECTION. A majority, more than 60 percent, of those who voted in the advisory Dean election voted in favor of the Nominating Committee’s majority proposal, Agneta Holmäng. The voter turnout was just over 60 percent, which is unusually high.
The number of the election is thus 60. That is the percentage that exercised their right to vote, and of those just over 60 percent chose to vote for the proposed candidate: Agneta Holmäng.
The number of valid votes in the election was 742. Of these, 450 were cast for Agneta Holmäng, 171 voters abstained and 121 chose to vote against the proposal and present a name of their own. Of those who brought forward own candidate, most votes were cast for the current Acting Dean Eric Hanse. Two votes were declared invalid.
Göran Stenman, Chairman of the Faculty Board’s Nominating Committe, comments:
“We can note that the outcome of the advisory election of Dean at Sahlgrenska Academy is that Professor Agneta Holmäng has received the most votes. We now pass the results of the vote to the Vice-Chancellor, and suggest Agneta Holmäng to be appointed Dean at Sahlgrenska Academy.”
The election participation was 60.9 percent, which is a high figure. Jan Rubensson, Deputy Office Head at Sahlgrenska Academy Office was responsible for the practical implementation of the election:
”We have compiled statistics on the voter turnout in advisory dean elections since 2012, and this is the highest result. Even though our compiled statistics does not go further back in time, I think this is one of the highest electoral engagements we have seen in a dean election.”
