SELECTION OF DEAN. The process of appointing a new Dean at Sahlgrenska Academy has been going on for some time. Today, Vice-Chancellor Eva Wiberg met with the Nominating Committee to discuss the matter.
In May, Christina Jern declined to become dean at Sahlgrenska Academy. The previous Vice-Chancellor, Pam Fredman, then decided the commencement of a new process to appoint Dean and Pro-Dean.
According to University regulations, the appointment of a new Dean and Pro-Dean has to be preceded by an advisory election.
Today, on Wednesday August 23, Vice-Chancellor Eva Wiberg met with the Nominating Committee for the first time to discuss the process. During the meeting, she emphasised that an advisory election has to be held, since it’s stated in the University regulations.
“The Nominating Committee has worked intensively for a long time with the Dean issue. They deserve praise for that. When Christina Jern declined, the Nominating Committee had to start a new process and I understand completely the challenge to find a new Dean as soon as possible”, says Eva Wiberg.
