Glycobiology concerns complex carbohydrates and their interactions with proteins in the body, and are important for research on a range of diseases, including cancer and rheumatic diseases. Essentials of glycobiology were first published in 1999, and through the latest update, a new generation of researchers is given the opportunity to embark on this field – the importance of which has been highlighted by four Nobel Prize-winners in Chemistry and Medicine.
