FUTURE OF MEDICINAREBERGET. It is now decided that the Faculty of Science enters the next stage of the construction process for a new building for life sciences at Medicinareberget. The intended location of the building is on the eastern slope of Medicinareberget, adjacent to the Medicinarelängan.
On June 15, based on the results of the preliminary study, the Faculty of Science decided to propose that the Vice-Chancellor makes an agreement with Akademiska Hus regarding a building program. Since the Vice-Chancellor has provided a positive response, the project is now in the next stage – the construction program phase. This phase is estimated to take about four or five months.
It is the aim for the Faculty of Science to gather the three institutions of biology and environmental science, chemistry and molecular biology, and marine sciences, in the new building. A premises program for Core Facilities was also developed as part of the preliminary study.
“We are very involved and have many common interests in the project. We share animal reserach activities and Core Facilities, and will be able to utilize teaching facilities and research premises built in connection with the new construction”, says Eric Hans, Acting Dean of the Sahlgrenska Academy.
