FACULTY MANAGEMENT. Shortly after the advisory election of dean earlier this spring, when the faculty members of staff gave their vote of confidence to Christina Jern, Christina unexpectedly became ill. She has now come to the conclusion that she will not be able to accept the appointment to dean, and has announced her decision to the Vice-Chancellor. The Sahlgrenska Academy Faculty Board will come back with more information on the appointment of a new dean.
Christina Jern has sent word that she still believes in the vision she was elected on, in which we will create a modern and competitive academy together.
“It is of course a pity, especially for Christina, whom I know was looking forward to the exciting and challenging task as Dean of the Sahlgrenska Academy. It is also a sad message to all the colleagues who were looking forward to her appointment, and Christina would like to thank all for the great confidence shown her”, says Pro-Dean Eric Hanse.
The Faculty Board will now consult with the Vice-Chancellor on how to progress the appointment of a new Dean. For the time being, Pro-Dean Eric Hans continues as acting dean.

For a period of time, former Dean Olle Larkö and Vice-Dean Anna Karlsson will support Eric Hanse on the management tasks.
Olle Larkö will work 25 percent as Senior Adviser, and Anna Karlsson 15 percent with management support, in addition to her appointment as Vice-Dean for postgraduate education. Anna Karlsson will primarily focus on the building projects at Medicinareberget.
