COOPERATION. The past week has been eventful for the Department of Pediatrics at the Department of Clinical Sciences and Queen Silvia’s Children’s and Youth Hospital. Monday to Thursday held the annual Children’s Week, this time at the Swedish Fair and with Children’s Medicine as a host. Inauguration talks made Queen Silvia, and several foreign guest lecturers were also on the list of speakers.
On Thursday, His Royal Highness Prince Daniel visited the Center for Pediatric Growth Research at the so-called “Växthuset” at Queen Silvia’s Children’s and Youth Hospital. Here he met five obesity researchers, Jovanna Dahlgren, Jenny Kindblom, Josefine Roswall, Gabriele Eiben and Yun Chen who lectured on evidence-based treatment within childhood obesity, as well as recent new and remaining knowledge gaps.
“The dialogue afterwards was familiar for us five researchers. We talked about how children’s health can be improved and how the royal family can contribute. Prince Daniel showed great dedication and described Gen Pep, an iniative made by the Crown Princess Victoria and himself” , says Professor Jovanna Dahlgren.
The meeting with Prince Daniel aimed to draw attention to children’s physical activity needs, to visualize children who are struggling with childhood obesity and to encourage better interaction between different actors in society and care.
