GRANTS. The amount awarded is being increased significantly, but fewer researchers will receive the grant. Additionally, the requirement of having a doctoral degree from a Swedish university is being eliminated. These are the changes occuring in connection with the re-establishment grant being renamed to the Sahlgrenska Academy International Starting Grant.
Sahlgrenska Academy introduced re-establishment grants in 2013. This was a strategic move to make it easier for researchers having just completed their postdocs abroad to return to Gothenburg. The researcher’s needs determine if the grant is used for salary or as grant funding.
Re-establishment grants are being renamed the Sahlgrenska Academy International Starting Grant. This autumn, four researchers will receive SEK 1 million each through the grant. This doubles the amount awarded, but the number of recipients is being reduced. The idea is for the money to make it easier for researchers having just completed their postdocs abroad to return to Gothenburg.
The last day to apply for the Sahlgrenska Academy International Starting Grant is November 30, 2016, when the application and its related documents must have been submitted to Niclas Lundh (niclas.lundh@sahlgrenska.gu.se).
