APPOINTMENT. Professor Christer Dahlin, Department of Biomaterials, Institute of Clinical Sciences, The Sahlgrenska Academy, has been appointed as Ramfjord Visiting Professor at University of Michigan School of Dentistry (UMSD), Ann Arbor, USA.
Christer Dahlin will spend time at the Giannobile Lab who focuses on developing techniques which will help clinicians to repair, reconstruct and regenerate craniofacial anomalies in patients. The lab has also been selected by the NIDCR to establish a center for tissue engineering. UMSD is ranked no 2 in the world with regard to scientific achievements within the field of Dentistry (University of Gothenburg is currently ranked 3rd). Professor Dahlin is a pioneer in the development of the concept of Guided Bone Regeneration (GBR) which is a technique to regenerate bone in conjunction with dental implant treatment.
-It is really a great honor and I plan to spend some time there during the spring 2017 to conduct research but also to lecture. I see this as a beginning of a fruitful collaboration ship between our Departments long-term, says Christer Dahlin.
