Now you can nominate a new dean – do so by September 30

14 September, 2016

sa-1-720

ELECTION OF DEAN. Employees at Sahlgrenska Academy can now nominate individuals for selection as our new dean. Both internal and external candidates are welcomed by the nominating committee, which is also using the services of a recruitment agency to find the best possible candidate.

The nominating committee is working on behalf of the Faculty Board and the Vice-Chancellor to develop proposals for a new dean and a new prodean. The new dean’s and prodean’s terms are six years. These efforts are taking place in close consultation with Vice-Chancellor Pam Fredman.

The faculty’s employees will have the opportunity to vote on the nominating committee’s proposal through an electronic election. The exact date of the election has not yet been determined, but it will be implemented in the same way as previous elections. The vote is advisory, as dean and prodean are formally appointed by the Vice-Chancellor.

Both internal and external recruiting

After consulting with Vice-Chancellor Pam Fredman, the nominating committee has decided to open up the position of dean for external recruitment, which is an option available under the university’s rules. Procurement of the recruitment agency to help with this process is ongoing.

The recruitment specification for the position of dean has also been defined by the nominating committee and in consultation with the Vice-Chancellor. You can read the specification here: LINK

Suggest a person for new dean

The nominating committee is now accepting nominations for individuals suitable for the position of dean. Nominated individuals must have been asked first and agreed that they are interested in the position. The nominating committee also wants a brief explanation for the nomination for each nominated person. You may nominate both internal and external candidates.

Send your nominations by e-mail to dekanval@sahlgrenska.gu.se no later than September 30.
