COOPERATION. Ann-Marie Wennberg has been appointed as the new director of Sahlgrenska University Hospital, SU. She is currently in the hospital administration and is a professor. “Ann-Marie has extensive experience and has shown modern and visible leadership,” said regional director Ann-Sofi Lodin.

After an intensive search process, regional director Ann-Sofi Lodin decided to appoint Ann-Marie Wennberg as the new Hospital Director of Sahlgrenska University Hospital.

“This assignment involves great responsibility for one of Northern Europe’s largest hospitals. It is an enterprise that covers everything from world-class research and training to covered health and medical care, both for inhabitants of the region as well as patients nationally and internationally,” said Ann-Sofi Lodin.

Ann-Sofi Lodin believes that “this recruitment demonstrates the strength of Region Västra Götaland, since we were able to recruit a top manager from our own staff. Ann-Marie Wennberg has a highly distinguished background with tested leadership, experience in many disciplines within healthcare, as well as qualified and extensive change management within several areas.

I am convinced that Ann-Marie Wennberg has the right qualifications to drive cutting-edge expertise in the organization, nationally and internationally, while developing the hospital enterprise as an integral part of the region.”

The appointment of Ann-Marie Wennberg also assures continuity, since the hospital is in a strong developmental phase, including, among other things, value-based care. With her broad research background, she guarantees that the hospital will continue to be an international leader in research, training and business development.

“It is a pleasure to have received this vote of confidence.  I look forward to leading an enterprise with the collective strength and expertise of Sahlgrenska University Hospital. I am eager to have all of the employees feel confident about the possibilities to accomplish their tasks while at the same time maintaining a balanced budget.

I plan to observe the activities of the organization as soon as possible in my new role, and I look forward to having exciting encounters with all of the amazing employees!”

Ann-Marie Wennberg will take over as hospital director on August 15.
