‘Totally sick!’ is an exhibition produced and curated by six MFA Fine Art students from Valand Academy and staff from the Medical History Museum. The artists have been working together for six months with the collection of the Medical History Museum to create interventions and artworks exploring a range of subjects from survivalism, mental health, plastic surgery, lack of emotional subjectivities, quarantine, social segregation and contemporary population management. The exhibition features various artistic mediums such as installation, performance, sculpture, painting, video and sound.
The exhibition challenges and analyses the notions of a medicalized society by investigating several dialectics present in such a medicalized society such as body-mind, body-machine, body-city and body-archive. In addition, the exhibition delves into understanding and enacting artistic critiques related to the institutional framework under which a museum like this one operates.
‘Totally sick!’ is also supported by a public program of events, including weekend tours by the artists, talks by invited speakers, a performative lecture, and a film screening.
Participating Artists: Karl Bergström, Joel Danielsson, Geraldine Juárez, Gunèll Kulieva, Ram Krishna Ranjan och Andreas Westerberg.
