INNOVATION. About 500 people work in buildings included in the operations of Sahlgrenska Science Park. Charlotta Gummeson assumed the CEO position at the end of the year.
“What strikes me as new here is that the demand from industry, entrepreneurs and others, is that we must commit ourselves to be a link and a neutral part in different contexts. The need for a work-related meeting point is something to highlight as a base that can unite this otherwise quite segmented industry in our region. Many of our new initiatives are aimed precisely at this and it feels good that we’re on the right track.”
There is a lot going on in the Sahlgrenska Science Park environment now and in the future. Right?
“Yes, it is a fantastic drive in our business! Motivated employees with broad expertise and network will allow Sahlgrenska Science Park to enable life science business to a greater extent than before.
Among the current issues for Sahlgrenska Science Park, it is notewothy that the internationalization program Bridge UK has become national. Entrepreneurs from across the country can receive support to break into the UK market, by direct contact with the most relevant beneficiaries in the British health care system. Also, Sahlgrenska Sience Park run an initiative along with colleagues in the Nordic countries to commercialize products within eHealth – Nordic Connected Health Star Track – collaborating with Vitalis, among others. Many meetings are arranged and they are all open to everyone interested (updated in the calendar).
During 2016 Sahlgrenska Science Park can support young life science companies with high growth potential and high knowledge level, in efforts to validate the business idea. This support goes through SWElife (Vinnova). Sahlgrenska Science Park is also one western Swedish node for all SWElife-calls.
Also, Sahlgrenska Science Park runs a start-EU program with a focus on small and medium-sized life science companies in western Sweden, aimed at increasing competitiveness in branch.
