RESEARCH CONDITIONS. In a debate article in the Swedish newspaper Svenska Dagbladet the umbrella of the National Junior Faculty presents five concrete measures to facilitate the career path for young researchers. The debate article is a result of the extensive survey National Junior Faculty conducted last year.t.

National Junior Faculty states that as many as eight out of ten of the young researchers who responded to the survey consider that they have an insecure employment. More than half of the respondants also believe that the current situation does not allow them to carry out the best possible research.
The umbrella organization proposes that a larger proportion of government research funds shoould go directly to universities, that a clear career ladder should be imposed where the steps are comparable between different institutions in the country, and that individual project grants should be the main way to finance research projects.
Future Faculty at the University of Gothenburg is part of the National Junior Faculty, and similar compounds from the Universities of Linköping, Lund, Umeå and Uppsala and the Karolinska Institute are also part of the National Junior Faculty.
